Why are You Called Funny Feathers?

Louis Armstrong

Funny Feathers is the name of a song recorded twice back in the 1920s by a blues singer called Victoria Spivey. In the background of the better version can be heard the distinctive sound of a cornet played by a young Louis Armstrong.

Bandleader Dave Robinson was intrigued by the eccentric lyrics and named the Band after the song.
